Is it possible to buy an adaptor for the above lens to use it on my Canon 300D

Sorry to be so vague, but the answer is possibly. It depends on what fitting your Vivitar lens is. Please let us know the fitting.

Even if you can mount it using an adaptor, you will need to focus manually and somehow stop the lens down to taking aperture before each shot.

Also, this was a fairly run of the mill lens from 25- 30 yrs ago. Rather than buying an adaptor, you might be better served putting the cashtowards a more modern autofocus lens

The lens came with a a bag full of gear that included a CHINON CE-4s so I assume that's the fitting.
Just seemed a shame to "bin the stuff" because I doubt it has any real value - unless you know otherwise ??

Most likely, then, it's Pentax K bayonet, which isn't easily converted for use on a Canon EOS.

No, there's no great financial value, but that Chinon is a surprisingly decent camera of its era, and is still capable of good results. I'm not so sure about this zoom, though.

You can buy a simple Pentax K to EOS adapter for about £12 but less on eBay. The lens will then mount on all Canon EOS bodies that can mount the EF-S lenses (like your 300D). You can then set the camera's metering to A, set the preferred aperture and the camera will set the shutter speed. Focus must be manual and with the basic adapter you don't get the focus-confirm beep.

Vivitar didn't make lenses themselves. The telephoto zoms tend to look better than they are optically but they aren't too bad either; better at the shorter end than the longer.

Following on from my original query..........

I also have a SIGMA COMPACT HYPERZOOM 28-200mm that was origninally fitted to my PENTAX MZ60.

Can this SIGMA lens be used or adapted to use on the CANON 300D ???
