Ugly, heavy, cumbersome, too big for the bag, not needed.

Rather spend it on a memory card.

I have one (all be it modified) on my GX10, a cheapo copy from eBay is more expensive than this now !

Need a second one for my K10D as I prefer the camera with the grip (big hands you see!)

If you feel that way, then probably the best way forward is NOT to buy one.

I have one on my K20 all the time. Change batteries once every month, vertical shutter release and easy to hold with large size hands.

I was skeptical at first but treated myself to the battery grip back in March and now it never leaves my camera. I find the stability with long lens on the K20D is so much better.

Seems like a steal if you can get one...

I can see the advantages and at that price it is a steal, or more realistic, whichever way you look at it. I can also see the advantage of the additional release button, as using the K20D in portrait mode on a tripod/monopod is not that easy if you are right handed.

How do I get it past SWMBO though??

Be a man and stand up to SWMBO and plead remorselessly. Tell her it's the bargain of the decade. Think about it Jessops have stopped selling Pentax cameras so when these grips go they're gone.

Now get a grip man and beg

    Re: D-BG2 Battery grip

Well, you lot have talked me into it. I went into Norwich today to do some clothes shopping, you know, a fur coat for the summer. Well I went into Jessops, but they had sold them all. The sales girl was most helpful, she checked the warehouse, but no luck, all gone she said.

Then she started checking the stores by telephone. After the third call she found one in Solihul and they have agreed to ship it to Norwich and I can collect it on Teusday/Wednesday. Now how is that for service.

I take back all I ever said about them.

Just another bit of kit to wind up the CSPO's. I will probably be stopped as soon as I open the car boot and drag out the enhanced K20D!

Park Cameras are selling this for about £159.00, I cannot believe that Jessops are selling them at a loss, so is this an indication of the real profit levels on the kit we are buying??

Probably just part of their process of clearing Pentax stock!!

When I got my battery grip I saw SRS (Pentax Retailer) had them for £99, however I was in London so I popped into an official pentax retailer - they wanted £120 (or there abouts) for it. I explained that I had seen it online at another pentax retailer for £99 would they pricematch. The assistant asked the manager and I was told in strong words that they make very little money on them for £120 so no they would not pricematch.

I thanked the assistant for his time and purchased from SRS for £99 inc free postage.

Dunno how Jessops can do them for that price....

From what we read, Jessops is having a major financial shakeout - and that means maximising cashflow.

Old stock - particularly for Pentax which they are phasing out - has to go, and its better to have £60 in the bank than a piece of kit on the shelf that is making you no money at all, and may finally have to be cleared out for even less if you continue to hang on to it in the hope of selling it (and with Jessops not stocking Pentax, then who would bother asking them anyway?)

True. Then it is their loss and my gain.
Pity they don't have some flashguns as well!
