Hi all my first post of many
A work friend is selling his camera konica minolta dimage a200
i have done a little research.. And found that the camera is a couple of years old but overall not bad.
I'm no expert in these matters as i am just getting interested in photograhy.
Any advice on this camera would be appreciated

It's a very good camera. There were a few issues with the AF I think, but overall very highly regarded. The word out there was that the AF albeit very quick could at times be very slightly off. I have a Dimage A1 and the AF is very good and image quality at ISO 100 to 200 is superb (at 100 is very close to DSLR at the same res) but at ISO800 is a no go area.

I have an A2 and have enlarged well over A3 with pretty acceptable results, as Luis says, at low ISOs but that's to be expected. In a couple of weeks I'll be in the Lake District re-taking some views with my a900 to see how much difference the large sensor and extra pixels really make. I have found the A2 AF not that quick and works better if you let it take its time.
However, this is getting away from the A200 (note the capital A to avoid confusion with the Sony a200) you are interested in. I haven't had one but they shouldn't be that different from the A2. You just need to make sure you pay the right price. Let us know how you get along and post some results.
I had an A2 which I sold to a friend and I wish I held onto it. It's a great camera not sure what the differene is between the A200 and the A2 is the only thing I'd be concerned with is the age of the camera. Things have moved on alot since its debut

I bought two A2s, (bit like New York), one for myself and one for a daughter so that must be a bit of a recommendation.
Interesting and thanks for that info. Makes me want to get one for old times sake and the ease of just having it in a pocket. Yes it needs to be a big pocket which I've got but there's not alot of money in there. Anyway I've got a dodgy studio flash. Getting back to the OP I'd say check it out, I wish you luck
