FZ28 Help Please

Hi, I have been experimenting with the digital zoom feature on my FZ28.The instruction manual tells me that this feature
should work in many modes.However the only mode that I can switch the mode on is by turning the dial to M (manual focus), does anybody know if this is correct?. Or am I missing something in the instructions?. Any help would be much appreciated.

All I would ask is - why? Digital zoom is never a great option, as all it does is effectively crop the image automatically. You can do that in a much more controlled way on the computer if you really haven't got the optical reach you need, and then it makes no difference what settings you've used.

I am sure you are quite right.As I said I was only playing with the camera, and am interested to see what kind of image this digital zoom would take.I think I should be able to activate the function in more than just manual focus mode.

Can't help directly with the FZ28 but on my FX30 it's turned on via the menu. On my camera it's located on the third page of the Rec(ord) menu (indcated by a little camera symbol on the menu tab) and called D-Zoom. With it set to on I get an extension to the normal zoom range indicted by a blue bar at the T end of the zoom scale. As far as I can tell it works in all modes.

May be worth checking to see if the FZ28 has a similar option somewhere...

With such a long telephoto lens whats the point..
