Olympus 1040 Stylus Micro SD Card

This is a brilliant little camera, and with the new SD caddy attachment, it now takes SD cards. This caddy has a dongle at the bottom to differenciate between SD/XD, so dont file it down, bit of a pain as it wont fit in a normal card reader . . .
Using a 2gb micro sd, which takes aboutt 400, and Im really impressed, but a few questions.

    a. Can you buy a spare caddy card ( called a MAS-D1) ?

    b. What is the max gb micro SD it will take, ie 4gb, 8gb ?

    c. Any other information about memory card usage ?

    Thanks . . . .

    Welcome to the forum.

The adapter is actually the MASD-1, note the position of the hyphen. £8.99 from Jacobs:

You can get capacities up to 16GB but check that your camera will allow their use. Sandisk 16GB about £38.95 from:

Memory card use? Format in the camera.

Took the plunge and bought a 4b micro SD card, second hand from a hight street shop for 12 pound, and gave it a go.

First of all, just plugged it into the caddy, and took a few pictures, and all seemed ok, but when I took it out of the caddy, inserted the micro SD into the SD card, and then inserted SD card into SD card reader, the PC could see the card reader, but unable to index and show anything on the card.

Second, tried formatting the card in the camera with the same results.

Third step is to connect the camera directly to the PC with the USB to mini USB connection cable, and see if this works.

Forth step might be to try a more up to date card reader, but cant see how this might make any difference.

So, what Ive learnt so far, mini SD cards above 4g work ok in 1040s, but at present Ive been unable to download any of the pictures taken to any other media.

Has anyone else had similar on the same type of camera ?
I know 1040s are the bottom end of the market, and micro SD caddys are fairly new, but surely olympus would have gone above 2b, so part of me says that it must be a purely download problem . . . .

Solved my own problem. Must have been the old card reader that just couldnt cope with the 4g micro sd card.
Tried connecting the camera direct to the pc, and works ok. Also tried it with the latest Jessops card reader, the one with a direct micro sd slot, and this also works, so the conclusion is that my old card reader just cant cope with anything larger that 2g sd card.
