    Epson 750 Pro Software

    A couple of questions:

    1) I recently upgraded my PC and now my Silverprint Ai software won't load - seemingly because I am running Vista instead of XP. Is there a way round this apart from having to buy new software? If not, which software will work with Vista?

    2) I've scanned a few images to TIFF and JPEG and tried to open them with my Nikon Capture NX2 programme. No can do! No idea why as they used to open without hitch when I had my old PC with XP. Any ideas?

Please bear in mind that I am a complete techno-muppet and, therefore, I would be ever so grateful if you'd give me the idiot's guide to what, if anything, can be done. If it's a hopeless case, I will be selling a barely-used Epson 750 Pro - without the gel mount thingy - for a reasonable price.

    Many thanks. PJ.

I don't have Vista nor a 750 scanner, but do have a well functioning Epson 4870 on XP.

Have you thought of visiting the Epson website and checking whether there's updated drivers, software etc. for your scanner on Vista? Or you could try downloading Vuescan and giving that a try - the trial is free, but there's a watermark on your scans.

Or try posting your query on the specialist forum at the base of this page.

It should work just fine and unlike other software also with Vista 64 too. How about the Epson Scan software does that work at all?

Are you 100% sure the Epson drivers were installed properly before you installed the Silverfast software? Worth a check in device manager to make sure no warnings otherwise. Even if they are I would uninstall/reinstall both drivers & Silverfast and try again.

If after doing this it still does not work I'd definately install a trial of VueScan which "IMHO" is far more useable than the Silverfast software and I'm certain will work well with the 750.
