first up adobe rgb is there any reason why i shouldnt have it set to this ??? from what ive read it only seems beneficial to have this colour setting switched on?? also what do you have the dr setting on ?? im still trying to get my head round what its for , cheers , oh n the camera im using is the a350 !! cheers sony lovers
Hi Adam. First up then, Adobe RGB is a colour space. An image using this colour space has more colours than say sRGB so it is better suited to images that you are going to print. The sRGB colour space is a standard for display devices (monitors/TV's etc) which can't display a full range of colour so images using this space are better suited to viewing on screen or the web. I'd initially save images in Adobe RGB in case you want to print them then save any destined for web or viewing on screen as sRGB.
Next, dr - I assume you mean Dynamic Range Optimizer. If so, this is a mode that attempts to increase the DR of an image by setting the exposure at the taking stage with a bias for the highlights then when the image is processed in camera the shadows are digitally lightened. I have my a200 set to DR+ but I haven't done any comparative shots yet to see what the difference is between Off/DR on/DR+
