    MPP Monorail front lens standard

I'm on the search for a front lens standard for my venerable MPP Monorail camera. I phoned round the usual suspects yesterday to no avail, ffordes, MXV, Mr CAD, Bob Rigby. Are there any others worth trying? Thanks

I'm hoping to mount my Canon 5D via an AF confirm adapter to a recessed Sinar lens panel, and then try some "real" tilt and shift using my LF lenses. The LF lenses will be mounted in the existing front lens standard, and it would make matters much easier if I had another lens standard at the rear in place of the standard which holds the ground-glass screen and dark-slide.

This shows what I'm on about.

No luck at Teamwork - so I've been out buying aluminium, brass etc.

Have you tried contacting the MPP club Malcolm? Just got this quarter's mag. I good read but they're asking for submissions - and members ... looks like they are getting low on membership. Your experiments might make a good article for them

Re: MPP Monorail front lens standard

Not yet, I checked out their website last night.

Buying the near pristine MPP Monorail 3 years ago for not a lot of money (£150 + £20 carriage - well deserved!!) got me into quite a bit of metal work of different sorts, and I now have a range of bits and pieces, but never quite what I need for the next job. Probably the best item I made was an adapter to allow lenses in the mounts for my MPP Microtechnical Mk VI to fit the Sinar sized lens mount used in the Monorail. Took quite a long time as I don't have a lathe or milling machine, but it's saved me dismantling and re-assembling lenses when moving from one camera to the other.

One of the lenses I'm hoping to try is a single element bi-convex glass lens approx 12" focal length ~f4 magnifier (£1) and compare with my EF 300 f2.8L.
