e520: Focal Length setting in the IS setting menu

In the IS selection menu, where we set image stabilization mode IS1, IS2 or IS3...there is an options allow to change focal length in XXX mm

Not sure what that options is for as it's not stated clearly in the manual.

my camera's body firmware is at version 1.1 and the default
focal length setting i see here is at 100 mm

    Anyone here have any idea?

    Hi OlyRay

The setting is to enable the IS to work correctly with 'legacy' lenses, such as the original OM Zuikos (rather than the new, fully compatible Digital Zuikos). The Digital Zuikos (and other Four Thirds lenses) will communicate with the camera, and the IS will automatically account for the relevant focal length.

I believe it is possible to enter a value for the focal length, whether or not a legacy lens is mounted, however it will only have an effect when such a lens is used - any Four Thirds lens will override the focal length set and utilise the information from the lens instead.

    HTH.
