As a Nikon F80/Coolpix P1 user, I've now spent some time with my new D60 and I like it a lot. The rear screen is now protected, thanks to some suggestions received earlier on this forum. The camera is easy to use, and the image quality from the kit lens (18-55mm VR) is excellent even at the higher ISO settings. The build quality is good, but not in the same league as the D90/D3/D300/D700 (but then of course it didn't cost as much), and I appreciate that I will have to treat it carefully. All in all I love it!
