Apart from the KM 3600HSD and 5600HSD are there any other flash units out there that will give me HSS on my 7D? I've used a 5400HS on my previous (film)cameras but it's not compatible with the 7D. Funds are limited so I'm looking for used gun but used 3600 and 5600HSDs are as rare as hen's teeth!

Sony flash compatibility chart which is also relevant for Minolta dSLRs ... plus Sigma make compatible guns.

The chart indicates that I could use my 5400 in manual and set exposure using the modeling light so may still get some use out of it which is great. Initial indoor shots using the built in flash in P mode have all underexposed by more than 1 stop, anybody else have the same problem with the 7D?

Exposure problem seems to be due to flash setting. Had it set to ADI but with the 28-200mm Sigma lens I've been working with this underexposes quite badly. Changing setting to P-TTL seems to have improved things. Have also tried using the 5400HS gun with both camera and flash in manual and got good results but it's a bit long winded. No HSS though

Scraped together enough money to buy a new Sony F42AM from Amazon. Very nice little flash and now have HSS again YAY!
