5 weeks on and im happier than a peedo in speedos!!

absolutley loving my new sony a350 and if anyone on here is debating wether or not to get one then im telling you you wont be dissapointed i cant put mine down !!! ..... just a few questions for the sony gurus amongst the ranks cheers........

i have a decent collection of minolta lenses which seem to work great .... iv noticed that they only have 5 metal contacts on the lens , where as the body of the sony has 8 (i think) now unless im in manual mode the warning light always flashes even though nothing seems to be going wrong , am i losing any essential feautures with there only being 5 contacts on the old minolta lenses ???

    aslo............

as there from 35mm camera and the sony is digital ive been told the focal distances will be different from what it says on the lens ?? so for eg what would the focals be for eg my 28mm , 50mm etc ??? someone mentioned you times the length by 1.5 ... is this correct ??? ....... thanks for any help from one sony lover to another hahahaha

The extra pins are for ADI (Advanced Distance Integration) flash measurement and also to power SSM lenses and old xi power zoom lenses.

    Pin connections

Focal length of lenses can't change just because they're fitted to a camera with a smaller image area (APS-C). What does change is the field of view because the APS-C sensor is smaller than the old 35mm film size.

Multiply the focal length marked on the lens by 1.5 to get the equivalent field of view to a 35mm camera when fitted to your APS-C sensor camera. For example your 28mm x 1.5 = 42mm and your 50m x 1.5 = 75mm ... in 35mm terms.

I would think it would make a nice sports lens and you could also fit a good 2 x converter to make it a f5.6 400mm (equivalent).
