I'd doubt it, Camera optics are only a small part of Zeiss, and as such most of the business would not fit with Sony very well.

But it is possible that they could buy just that part of Zeiss. After all, they bought just the photographic division of Konica Minolta.

I doubt it very much. Zeiss also make glass for spectacles as well as other optics such as top end binoculars and scopes. Don't see Sony doing that. Minolta used to make bins though.

Indeed they did, I used to have a pair of autofocus ones..........
