Do I need a lens adapter to attach a macro lens (Olympus C 4000)?

Hi, I've posted this elsewhere but will try here also.

My teenage son has an Olympus C 4000 which he loves. I know it has been superseded but replacing it is not an option at the moment. He would like a macro lens for it and I have found several sellers but they give conflicting information on whether a lens adapter is needed. One says none is needed, another says the CLA-1 is required and yet another the ClA-5 adapter.

Can anyone advise please?

Thanks for that link. It's the same problem though. In that seller's blurb it states that "a lens adapter may be required".

What I want to know is, IS a lens adapter required for my son's camera?

I did phone one of the internet sellers but the lad I spoke to clearly had no idea either.

Is there anyone out there who owns or has owned a C 4000 who can advise?

I believe the CLA-1 and 5 are the same adapter, except that the '5' comes with the required step-up-ring

Yes. It is simply a tube which fits around the lens to which you then attach filters or add-on lenses.
