E3 Firmware 1.4

Firmware 1.4 for the E3 now available. Apparently it improves auto focus

Early indications are that users have seen improvements in lenses as varied as the 50-200, 50f2, and Sigma f1.4.

Nick (Bone Idle), if you haven't sent your E3 to Oly yet, it may be worth trying first.

It hasn't gone yet. I'll give it a go tonight. I'm hoping for my lens back from Sigma soon as well.

I wonder if there's a sneaky fix in there for the v1.3 back focus issue some people are experiencing? I hope so!

Keeping an eye on a couple of other forums today on the basis that I'd rather have other people try new firmware first

It seems that this is an impressive upgrade. Most lenses seem to AF faster and more accurately.

Hope it sorts out your E-3 Nick. I'll wait to hear from you on how you get on but it looks positive.

So far so good. I installed it as soon as I got home and I think it has cured the back focus issue with the 12-60mm. Still waiting for the Sigma to come back from it's second trip to Sigma. That will be the test.

It sounds like the Leica 25mm f/1.4 had back focus issues too that have been fixed with this, so I'm quite hopeful.

I ran some focus tests on the 12-60, 50 f2, and Sigma 30 f1.4 this morning on firmware 1.3 and then 1.4.

It would appear that my E-3 did have a slight back focus issue on all 3 lenses But the good news is the 1.4 seems to have fixed it

Very encouraging, I'm hoping the 30mm will come back from Sigma soon so I can give it a go. This is the lens that showed the issue most clearly, due to the very shallow Depth of Field!
