Anyone had back focus issues with E-3?

Has anyone experience back focus issues with their E-3? I think I'm having this problem.

You're probably aware that I sent my Sigma 30mm F/1.4 for repair as it was not focussing correctly, I got it back a couple of weeks ago and noticed it was back focusing on the E-3. I sent it back to Sigma and they have re-checked it and rang me yesterday to say it was spot on.

Last night I decided to check the 12-60mm to see if this was focussing correctly and it looks like it's slightly back focussing as well. It's harder to spot as the DoF is a lot bigger at F2.8/F/4 compared to F1.4!

Sigma asked it I could send in my camera so they could calibrate the lens to it. I'm not sure if this is the best thing to do, my gut feeling is that I should double check the camera with all my lenses to look for Back focus, and it I'm convinced then I need to send it to Olympus. There seems little point having the lens calibrated to a camera that is not focussing correctly

Anyway, has anyone heard of the e-3 back focussing before?
    Thanks

    Nick

Afraid I can not give you a link but I remember some discussion on the American sites about back focus when the E3 first came out. It never seemed to get mentioned on the Uk sites so I assumed it was batch production related but I also think that there may be a firmware mod allowing you to calibrate the camera to individual lenses. Why not try emailling Oly and asking them about it?

The first thing I did when I got my E3 was to upgrade to firmware 1.3 and make sure the AF sensitivity was set to normal. I haven't noticed any focus problems but you've unsettled me enough to check it with my lenses later.

There's been quite a bit of talk on the DPReview Oly forum regarding this issue so it might be worth you doing a search there. One guy did a test and found out that the focus points as seen through the viewfinder were not exactly where the camera was actually focussing, i.e. all his 11 focus points were actually slightly above and to the right of where they appeared to be in the vf. On close work of course this would give you the effect of back or front focus. I seem to recall that firmware 1.3 resolved many of these issues.

I found a thread on DPreview where a couple of people said v1.3 caused a back focus issue. It's all very confusing but I'm goign to send the camera to Oly and have it calibrated and serviced.

I'm sure it'll come back working perfectly!
    Thanks

got my 30mm back from sigma and the problem is still there. On both the E-3 and E-510.

This leads me to think that sigma are wrong as it would be a big coincidence if both my cameras Back focussed.

Might send the e-3 to Oly for a check anyway, just in case!
    Thanks
