Apr09 comp "No bigger than my thumb" Post images here - Closed

April – "No bigger than my thumb" – mini-world

I can’t measure my thumb because I don’t know where it starts – but you get the idea. Shoot something small, and show us the details we’d normally miss. Macro or not, I want to see good lighting, careful focus, a well-chosen subject and a thought-about backdrop.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. PLEASE DO NOT POST IMAGES until you have read the Posting Images – Maximum Sizes etc sticky on this forum.

    2. Images must not exceed 600 pixels x 600 pixels

    3. File sizes must be under 100kb (102,400 bytes) – right click on your image then Properties to check the image and file size are correct before and after posting.

IMAGES THAT DON’T CONFORM TO THESE RULES WILL BE DELETED! Do not post TWICE in the comp - ask a moderator to correct or alter your original entry if you are having a problem.

    4. Images must be displayed in this thread (click on reply in this post and put your link in the Image tag in the Mark-up section of your post). - Note: Image must end in .jpg to display

    5. Images must have a suitable title in the subject line.

    6. No links please – images must be displayed in this thread only! (Technical details should be kept to a minimum)

    7. One entry only per person is allowed. If you need to change it, please contact a moderator with new URL and reason why. Note: bear in mind that changes to the monthly comp are not continuous and should be used only as a last resort.

    8. If you don't have a resizing program, Download this FREE program (Pixresizer) --- See my visual on how to use it

If you want comments on your work, or you want to comment on other members work, please post in the Comments thread provided.

    Good luck!

PS. If you're new to embedding images in forums and you're having problems, don't forget you have approx. ONE HOUR to try something else - if at the end of that time your still having a problem, contact a moderator.

PPS. If you need help with resizing images etc, then PM a moderator with details of the image manipulation program you're using (if you have one) and they’ll get back to you a.s.a.p. Note: there are free programs you can use in the ‘Posting Images – Maximum Sizes etc’ sticky.

    Whip Goby

Approx. 15mm long, on the end of a 3m whip coral swaying in the current, in 25m of water = very tricky to photograph!

    Wild Teasel

    Here goes

The tiny flowers seen in Wild Teasel whilst the the dried flower heads used to be used for carding or napping the fibres in textiles in bygone days . Less often seen is the detail between the spiny flowerhead of the minute purple flowers which flower in July and August

    Best wishes enjoy !!
