Using programmes from Vista laptop on XP PC

Is there a way of connecting an XP PC to a Vista home basic laptop so that I can edit using the PC which is connected to a large screen monitor? I would like to use a couple of programmes on the laptop that I don't have on the PC.
If there is a way of doing the connection could I have it explained in simple terms please?
    Thanks
    Jeff

    I don't think so.
Vista Home Basic cannot (as far as I know) accept incoming remote desktop.
I'm not quite sure why you'd want to though - why not just connect the vista laptop to the large screen, connect a USB mouse & keyboard and work directly on it? It's a lot simpler than any other method.
The worst battle cry I ever heard - "Look out! He's got a bigger camera!"

Because the PC with screen is in a tiny space in my wet darkroom in an outbuilding and my laptop lives indoors and it is a pain to do all the connections, reset the screen display and if I close the lid on the laptop it closes down which means there are two screens open. Also the laptop has less ram and speed than the PC even though the PC is, in computer terms, quite old.
However I take your point about the mouse and keyboard so I'll try removing the PC to make space and hook them up the laptop.
    Cheers

I would have thought you should be able to use MS Mesh for remote desktop. It's a free down load from Microsoft, how fast and usable the remote desktop is may be an issue.
I use MS Mesh on a number of XP, XPpro and Vista Business machines but I would not try to run Photoshop or anything else that requires rapid screen refresh rates for accuracy of mousing.
