Presumably the suits know what they're about. It seems a heck of a lot (though obviously the poor exchange rate has exacerbated things), and one could assemble a decent outfit (body and two to three lenses) of quality used kit for less outlay.

I'll stick with my Agfa Isolette, well stopped down and shooting with the light on grainy film, no one could tell the difference
So basically prices in line with Japan then.
