    Leica Retail in London

This week's BJP carries an ad looking for Deputy Store manager and Assistants for a store opening in Mayfair, presumably in the early summer. Certainly a new venture, but one that many high-end and big-name brands seem to be going in for.

What existing dealers will think is another matter. I can imagine some dark mutterings will occur in certain quarters though.

I think you'd be well suited for the job Tim. Beats hanging around Hitchin library and just think about the employee discounts...

    Re: Leica Retail in London

...Like other ultra premium brands, Leica will soon open its own store in Mayfair London...
Which are the other "ultra premium brands"?

I assume we're discussing other than Canon, Nikon, Olympus etc... How about Alpa, Linhof?

I think we're generally discussing areas outside photography when considering so-called "ultra-premium brands" - think the fashion industry mostly (it might be facetious to include Apple, although they also have their own store in Regents Street of course).

I didn't manage to prise much comment from Ivor today. He did mention one possibility with the Mayfair store which could cause unrest amongst the dealers, but as always I won't reveal stuff like that because he asks me not to. Suffice to say though that others in the shop didn't seem convinced about it.

Only mine which had come back from the fatherland - in a lovely black velvet drawstring bag. You don't get that from Canikon.
