    Noboyuki Taguchi

This image was featured in AP this week: Natural History Museum

The rest of the web site is worth checking out. He has an artist's eye.

That's one amazing image. It reminds me of those 'impossible staircases'.

    Isn't it!

I thought it was a photograph of an Escher at first glance. Great POV too.

First time I have seen it done with a fisheye, but the Escher like stairs is a view of the Natural History museum I have seen done a few times, often captioned 'Hogworts'.

I'd love to know what settings he used to convert to black and white. At first glance it seems impossible to have any half tones but the whole gradation is there.

He gave some hint to this here , saying

"I process my row data in my own way using Photoshop and Nik plug in to produce my black and white photography.
Recently, I downloaded "Silver Efex Pro" 15-day free trial and using it to find out if I can produce black and white photography quicker than my current way of doing it."

Given the NHM image predates the explanation, it would appear just photoshop + a Nik plugin (other than Silver Efex presumably) was used.

Many of his images do have that compressed dynamic range HDR look. The Nik stuff looks pretty comprehensive - Silver Efex was reviewed in the 3rd March issue of AP btw. There is a 15 day trial version.

Everything I've seen suggests Silver Efex Pro is a must-have. Only the price acts as deterrent for now.
