    Who said this 2.............................

    1,
It's searching through several tiers of menus on a bloody screen that annoys me. Grrrrr!

    2,
I would think that to the average Leica person, the whole concept of a digital Leica, or indeed, a digital camera per se is the antithesis of all that is good about Leica.
    3,
What a wonderful combination for 100% photographic satisfaction. I have had the Rolleiflex for just over 5 weeks and it has been the singlemost exciting thing that's happened photographically for a long time. OK it's a fixed 'standard' lens, but so far I've relished the challenge - and am gobsmacked by the quality of the lens.

Combined with the high quality of the Leica 35mm system, I can see this combination satisfying almost all of my photographic needs.
    4,
Go for a nice long walk Tim, nod to the neighbours, chat about the weather, and as soon as they go in, kick seven bells out of their cat
    5,
Truly you are utterly perverted, Clive

The amusing but sometimes unwelcome thing about delving into the quite recent past like this is how our previous comments will occasionally come back and bite us in the bum!

There - I've said it again!
The Rolleiflex with the Leica rangefinder is a wonderful combination, and reading this (I had forgotten all about it) it is making me a little nostalgic. But then I keep on picking up the D3.

As for Leica and digital ............ well, I got that wrong I guess. But I guess I would still pick up the D3 (!)

Must confess I could've said them all except 2. And possibly that one as well!

Thing is I've got three cameras that I get massive pleasure from using - my favourite Rolleiflex, my M3, and my EOS 5D. Shame is it's the last-named that gets almost all the use.

Didn't know you had an M3, Nick: the "best gadget of all time". I wish I could find your quotes circa 1991 when you were not so enamoured by the Germanic Gadgets

TBH it was never the cameras, only the unacceptable face of Leica owners I didn't like - and I came to realise that there really weren't many of them.

The M6 hooked me, and I got an M3 about 4-5 years ago for a very decent price. It's a bit tatty cosmetically, but wonderfully smooth and with a very bright finder. I had to sell the M6 a while back - it just wasn't getting the use it deserved - but I hung on to the M3. It doesn't get used enough, either, but it seems fairer on the old girl.

That was the very same M6 that originally hooked me, Nick (I had three at one time). But the M3 was the ground breaker. Definitely something to be seen with (UGH! wrong thread!! )

Just for completeness, I'll (re)confess the R3 now. I liked the Minolta XE-1 an awful lot, but sold it in the end (lack of use, and too good a price to miss) - and then found a rather nice R3 for less. Much as I liked the Minolta version, the R3 is a touch nicer - without even talking about the lens.
