Photoshop CS3 eraser tool

I don't know if anyone else has had problems, but when I use the eraser tool on my photoshop, there are little speckles/dots that get left behind in the area I have done erasing. I have elements 6, and when I use the eraser tool in the same way, I have no problems with the speckles/dots. It is becoming frustrating, and the full photoshop isn't cheap. Am I doing something wrong?

Have you checked the attributes of the eraser 'brush' and 'flow' settings in, say, the 'Options' window/palette?

I know that the flow was used on 100 percent. Thank for your reply.

Hmm? But how about the style of the brush?

Window > Brushes

Also are the preferences set to display the full size brush tip?

Photoshop > Preferences > Cursors

I some how have resolved the problem. I went and reset all tools and now it is working perfectly. Thank you for your help.
