    Lost Code

I have a copy of photoshop elements, which came with my Jessops film scanner as part of a package, The problem I have is ive lost the original sleeve in which it came and have therefore lost the code for installing it onto the computer. Any ideas please?

    Re: Lost Code

try contacting adobe. Usually companies with codes for installing will have a method for getting you a new code.
This might likley take the form of you having to mail your disk to them (to prove that you own the product) they might also request other documentation (like box, manual - oh wait it dont come with one - and recipt if you have it).

Honestly though I don't know what their method is so contact them. Its the only legitimate way I know to get your code back. The only other method is if you have it already installed on another computer - there is then a way to get the code back out of the computer from that install (though I have no idea how it is done)

I have used SIW to get the serial number of a program already installed on my computer when I needed it. It can be downloaded from here:http://www.brothersoft.com/siw-32319.html It's free by the way.

    Belarc Advisor

Yes, I recommend it to my friends and family especially after a dual core laptop was found to be single core thanks to Belarc - the said laptop was withdrawn across the whole county and my friend suitably compensated for his trouble

Interestingly neither SIW nor Belarc would give me the serial no. of Photoshop CS4 on my Vista Ultimate machine. Does it work on other operating systems I wonder?

Strange, Belarc gives the correct serial number for CS3 on XP

I know quite a few things got moved around between xp and vista - it might be that the program is simply looking in the wrong place for the data.
*why things were moved around I don't know - just to make things harder for users I think *

Both SIW and Belarc find the serial no. for Photoshop 7 ok so perhaps it is something to do with how CS4 stores the data?

    Re: Lost Code

might be - its an expensive bit of software so the programmers might have some sort of fancy coding that hides its serial number to avoid the chance of a virus stealing the code or somesuch
