So the Nottingham Light Night is this Friday and I want to go out and get some good pictures of the big wheel and the lit buildings. However, I really don't know where to start!!
As a complete newbie, I popped out tonight (the wheel lights were on as it was being put together) and had a little play around trying to use the shutter priority on my camera. However doing this, event with shots only 1.5 seconds, meant the aperture was automatically set to f22, the limit for the camera and photos were not as clear as I would have liked. So I thought I'd try using manual setting to set exposure and aperture.... which was just a disaster as nothing was well focused!! I had a play around with ISO settings too but I couldn’t reach the balance between the three. All in all I was quite disappointed with my results. I was using spot metering on my camera selecting the lit up wheel.
Therefore I’m looking for some hints and tips.... are there aperture and shutter speed settings which are most suited to particular night scenes? What about ISO? Any general tips to help me get at least one good (or even just nice!) picture on Friday night??
Please Help!!
Thanks
Laura
