    My 7D self-healed?

Strangely enough, these days I have put the batteries back onto my 7D and took a few shots at home and the hot and stuck pixels are gone (it was not doing it's pixel mapping magic before), it's not freezing anymore and seems to be working fine. It also holds the date (it used to lose the date). It's been 4 months or so since I last switched it on I think, but I do recall having left the batteries in for about the first month or so and removed them when I was cleaning it.

I say all this because as some may recall, I had lots of sudden problems, ended up buying an A700 and now it seems like I ended up with two good working A-mount cameras again. Fingers crossed that is. I still love the overall look of the images from the 7D more than my other cameras.
    Regards,

Well one of four possibilities ...

    1) R&R
    2) A dastardly Sony plot to get you to buy another camera.
    3) The Minolta was jealous of the new a700 so got it's act together.

    Or ....

    4) ... once a month, when switching off, a Sony or Minolta dSLR will shoot a black image and look for stuck pixels to update the dead pixel map of the camera.

If you want to correct it yourself change the date in the camera menu, move it forward at least further than the next 1st day of the next month, switch off the camera

...and 1000 Hail Mary's in repentance, that might have tied it up!

I used to do number 4, but it never worked. Number 2) was a good plan by Sony, I was a willing victim, it's a great camera and maybe they'll plot again when I have enough for a FF camera and I will be a willing victim again. Number 1) yes, possible, since I didn't see it for a while it may have escaped somewhere. Number 3) Very likely

I got my 7d a year after it came out, and have never had any problems with it, apart from the odd bit of dust on the sensor which was easily cleaned off

It still serves me well today as a backup to my A700
