Full marks for Numanoid for being the first brave soul to lift his head above the 2009 parapet. And I like the shot. Suspect this one is going to be the 'mother-of-all monthly shoot-out's!'

That's all very well but what does Ken Rockwell have to say on the matter?

This is one I'm actually going to have to think about carefully as I've never really done any night shots, unless you can count shots just after the sun goes down

My thinking cap is on for something to shoot this month, though I do already have a decent shot I can post but one of my new years resolutions is to take fresh shots every month for the competition

    Great start though Numanoid

Yeah that was my thinking as well - I was getting too lazy with the entries, relying on old stuff

I'm definitely going to have problems this month - nights are for sleeping...

But nights start real early and end quite late so you should manage something Dave, unless you go to bed mid afternoon and get up mid morning

AJ does have a point tho. 600 pixels is barely above thumbnail size. If we could post a link to a full size version as well as the piddly thumb that would be better. As it is i have to resize twice, one for other forums and one for here to upload to photobucket.

    Mod Note: Stop whinging

No he doesn't - there are reasons why the limit is as it is as outlined in the Posting Images sticky.

600 pixels is barely above thumbnail size
Eye test required? - some sites only allow 500 pixels in photo comps.

If we could post a link to a full size version as well as the piddly thumb that would be better
Who for? - Damien has enough work to do without clicking on 80 odd links.

As it is i have to resize twice, one for other forums and one for here to upload to photobucket.
    It's real tough out there

Nobody is forcing anybody to submit a picture for the Monthly Forum Competition - it's just a bit of fun to encourage you all to get out there and take some pics and at the end, you may win a very decent compact, plus those very expensive mugs...

In the future (depending on the new forum O/S), we may be able to make uploading and resizing automatic, but until that time, you, me, an the rest of the AP team are stuck wiv wot we got

Okay, lets go shoot some pics and... lets be careful out there...

...as there may be a PCSO about

Larry, you are whinging! The subject of the file size and dimensions has been discussed to death. There is nothing we can do about the limitations we face.

So (like the rest of us) you'll just have to put up with it or don't enter the competition.

I'd rather post to the limitations and have a chance of winning a new camera rather than not post. But if you can't (or won't) do a simple task of sizing a photo to 600px then that's your choice.

Also, let me remind you that we do have a GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE if you have a problem with any posts.
