Well at least within striking distance of Surrey. Anyone know of any butterfly farms or the like in the area, I tried searching but some mad person built a house that looks like a butterfly so all my searches keep pointing that way!

Just from a web search (starting with "Drusillas"), how about this in west Sussex:

had a look - though it seems whilst their more general wildlife section remains open the gardens and butterflies are close after Nov 2nd - thanks though its definatly one to keep an eye on![]()
Well worth keeping on the list for next year - We've taken quite a few good shots there.

anyone know any good walks from West Byfleet or Woking stations - only I really don't want to have to pay a cab but really don't want to follow the roads either (I am not walking down the M25!)
Had a shot at butterfies recently but wasnt happy with the pics, so will be taking a trip here to see if i can improve, thanks for the link

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Here are some shots I took when I went today. It was very busy, not huge numbers of butterflies and extremely hot in the glasshouse.

The rest of the gardens are a bit 'desolate' as there are few plants, flowers, etc as it's early in the year. Worth a visit though.![]()

Great photos hope I do half as well when I go next week. We were there a couple of weeks ago in very very frosty conditions and it took half an hour to de-fog the lens on entering the Glasshouse. I've now ordered some Hoya PRO1 digital filters so I can easily clean the lenses as I'm very careful about front elements and foreign matter.
Thank you velocette. I was quite difficult due to the number of people there, the low number of butterflies and also my kids trying to drag me away...![]()
