I though we'd got rid of these abominations some time ago, but I've just had one pop up. And it's back while I'm typing this. Yuk!!

I've not suffered from pop-ups since unsubscribing from all that Viagra spam.
It's sitting right over this window I'm trying to type in
Can't get rid of it, I've done a right click for properties and tried blocking the URL, no change
Earlier also had a smaller one appearing in the middle of some posts making them unreadable.
NOT HAPPY

The "Bar Steward" Casio ad, is *issing me off!
WTF is going on? HELP!
Kenny.
The tears of laughter were running down my legs.
It has blocked the first couple of lines of text in some topics I've tried to read. Clicking on it opens a new tab but doesn't close the floaty p.o.s.![]()
PM me for a solution - if IDS can't sort out the forum then feck 'em...

Bloody hell I haven't got ad blocker on this laptop and the damn thing can't be closed!
Next unpleasant surprise - it floats over 'post new topic'
PM on its way.
Well that's clever been in another thread and it totally covered the menu so I've has to back out!
I seem to be a bit luckier than some. Although the wretched thing is there, it pops up like an ugly boil in the middle of the header that reads Photography Forums, it's not blocking any links.
Do the people who create these annoying things really think it'll help sell to the enraged populace? About as much chance as those freaking freakers from telesales who ring up during your tea.![]()

If I had all the money I've spent on drink, I'd spend it on drink
I've tried Opera and its to the rhs of page under the xmas ad. Not obscuring the forum.

Can I just say we shouldn't necessarily be laying the blame at Casio's door. I suspect they have produced the ad but it's ultimately IPC (or Inspire Digital Solutions) who place it on the site and set it's parameters (though it has to be said that the ad is poorly designed with no clear option to close it).
Also these things are usually a 'once-per-session' deal but, once again, it seems IDS have naused it.

Ooh, I've not seen any pop ups, annoying or otherwise, on either my work laptop or home pc. I almost feel like I'm missing out.![]()

There's a hard-to-see white bar running along the bottom of the ad.
Working from the black cut-out at the bottom with Exilim in it, go about 2/3 of the way towards the right end of the right hand side white bar until the mouse turns into a hand and click to close the ad.
That's for Firefox anyway.
On my IE7 the ad appears smaller but on a white background - the same rule appears, just head right from right edge of the bottom of the Exilim cutout until you get 2/3 of the way from there to the edge of the ad and click.
Hope that makes sense!
If you look at the bottom right cut out section there's some white smudges which are the close button, takes a while to notice it though
Here you go, for anyone feeling left out;

Works ok, until you go to another thread - when it comes back again!Working from the black cut-out at the bottom with Exilim in it, go about 2/3 of the way towards the right end of the right hand side white bar until the mouse turns into a hand and click to close the ad.
