I am up in central London for a couple of days, boring meetings & stuff. I was planning on taking the camera & tripod and was wondering if there were any recommendations of locations for firework displays? I would love to try to get something with the Thames plus some of the historical sites, Eye or Big Ben?? Any suggestions/recommendations welcome… Anyone else going to be out and about??

John,

Tripod would be a 'no-no' around by the Eye. Too many people and arsey security guards.

I can be around if you want a guide. Not so sure about fireworks displays though. They'll probably be happening over the 8th/9th weekend.

I can be around then too - I work near Liverpool Street so can get to just about anywhere from there.
Safety in numbers and all that?

Would be good to meet – re eye, I was thinking more looking across and including in the scene – Wed night is possibly not the best for me, as I have a couple of members of my team joining me. But more than happy to meet up and be shown some of the sites – happy to supply some beer and other consumables!
I am staying at the Holiday Inn in Bloomsbury, should be arriving at Paddington around 5:00 on Monday.

Could meet at somewhere neutral, how about the Bierdrome (67 Kingsway) near Holborn – they do some rather nice beer there, last time I met there, we did not get too far, but had a great time!

Tuesday is better for me, looks like Monday is going to be a busy one for me.

Sorry for the delay in responding, the GP kind’a held things up, then needed to do dinner. Tuesday would be fine, how about 3:30, should give us a couple of hours before it gets too dark – also happy to make it up on the day, depending on the weather, etc...

Updated the post above, will try to be there for 3 but will possibly closer to 3:30 - I will ring when I leave my meeting... Looking forward to it.
