    Film Age

I'm packing to move house again soon and in doing so I've come across a film case, of uncertain age. I know I should have dated them, but I was rather slack.

Anyway, from the things I found it with, I would guess that it's eight years old. I know film ages-is there any point developing it? I'd love to see what's on it, but if it's too old I'd rather not waste my money.

    Re: Film Age

Film of greater age than this has been developed and produced quite reasonable results. There is likely to be some signs of age, it partly depends on the storage conditions. If you are curious, go ahead and have it processed, you may be pleased with the content.

    Re: Film Age

I recently found a 110 (I think) cartridge that belonged to my parents, which must have been at least ten years old, and probably more like twenty if I think about it.

Anyhow, I had it processed in the hope that it might have some photographs of my parents (now sadly deceased). It didn't, but the few images on it were fairly OK given the age of the film, the storage conditions (car glovebox, etc), and the fact that 110 was rubbish to begin with.

For the cost of a D&P its worth a go. If you speak niceley to the people at the minilab they will usually process the film, and then only charge you for printing if there is something worthwhile on the film.
