    Re: After the Steam Fair

Missed the chance for this year, I'm afraid. But I think there's loads of them around the country - got to be one (at least) up in the north-east somewhere.

I've got used to it happening every year here, I suppose, but it is still quite nice for the day or two before and after the fair when dozens of engines like that, as well as all manner of other vintage machinery, trundle up or down the road past my house. Not quite so nice for the days of the fair itself, when they are replaced by thousands of cars queuing to get into the fair, as well as all the normal traffic on that road, plus emergency vehicle sirens a dozen times a day.

Knitted slippers! I heartily recommend them.

Yes. Otherwise they're all wrinkled. I don't bother as much in the winter when they're hidden under jumpers.

But that just shows off the beer belly. A 1/2 hours ironing once a fortnight isn't too onerous.

T-shirts are about the only thing to get ironed. Certainly dont bother with bedding or trousers and I don't wear shirts apart from the occasional one for posh.
    Cheers

    David
