Hi Luis. Just write all your possible options on pieces of paper and put them in a box for a 'lucky dip' decision.

Hope you've recovered from jumping out of the window!

Re: WORLD EXCLUSIVE - Samsung reveals new interchangeable lens system

Looks as though manufacturers are sizing up for a fight over this sector of the market. I wonder where this rush for small will leave full-sized DSLRs in ten years. At least it won't be a one horse race now and that has to be good for prices.
I think serious photographers will still choose digital SLRs, but there are millions of semi-serious or passive photo enthusiasts who want something better than a compact, and with interchangeable lenses, but much smaller that a DSLR.

And how many serious enthusiasts even now moan about the lack of a decent compact with the quality and features of a DSLR but will fit in a pocket for carrying round all the time?

I think this sector, when its launched, will be huge, provided the manufacturers get the design, form factor and image quality right. It just remains to be seen whether it will be micro four-thirds, Samsung's system or someone yet to show their cards who will dominate it.

I'm thinking of going for it myself, Nigel. The DamCam Mini has an APS-P 18 million pixel sensor and lenses from 10mm to 300mm, including tilt and shift, 75mm macro with built-in flash, plus eye-controlled exposure settings, AF and flash modes.

    Any takers?

Seriously, I think you are right, we may well see other players in this area, not just 4/3, Samsung and me.

In for a penny, My micro system will have a square sensor sized to suit a 4/3rds image circle (gasp!! ) 14mp sensor (14mp when used in Square format), Direct access for Meter/ISO/AF Mode/MAS & Self Timer (Default 12 secs, user defined in Menu). Dual Command Dials Front/Rear. An adapter with Aperture Actuation for OM Zuiko Lenses. Lenses from 7mm to 250mm. Body and lenses Weather Sealed.

Mine won't have 'Eye Controlled Exposure Setting' it will however have 'Minds-Eye Image Realisation'

The sensor on mine will be much smaller than yours but my lenses will be much smaller at any given 'Angle of View'

I might even buy one myself

Well, send it in when you're finished. I'll get Angela to run a quick test on it for you.

Yes but I am currently in a straight jacket typing with my tongue and nose (when I need to use Shift or Ctrl or Alt).

Too many choices these days! Too many!!!

a PDP-11 was a large cabinet stuffed with TTL chips which contained a couple of dozen transistors each. Ran at a few score kilohertz and had 64KB memory if you were lucky.
Mine was a PDP/11 34. Ended up giving it away. You'd never have run someting like PS on it.

Global giant Samsung is set to introduce a new interchangeable lens 'Hybrid' digital camera system in Spring 2010, in a move aimed at propelling the company to the top of world's digital camera sales. Speaking exclusively to Amateur Photographer at the IFA show in Berlin, Samsung Techwin Executive Vice President Byung Woo Lee (says the first model in the as-yet-unnamed system will carry the company's own 14 million-pixel APS-C sized CMOS sensor and a new lens mount.
He's not related to another, rather notorious, Mr Lee is he.
