    Colchester Zoo (5)

A few taken on my first visit to Colchester Zoo on Friday.
The last three were taken through glass.

Fourth one wins hands down for me. Uncluttered background, interesting expression on the animal's face, good focus on the eyes, nice composition, nice lighting.......................it's got it all (well, maybe if the feet were in shot if I was being ultra fussy...................but I'm not!). Well done on that one! (the rest you can bin by the way......................they're just too boring! )

Nice set of images there Jason.

On the last image I would try to clone out the twig/branch over its body.

Very nice tortoise head shot.... I'd agree with Will the 4th shot is the best.

    Re: Colchester Zoo (5)

Thanks for your replies. Yes number 4 is my favourite of the day. I caught the sand cat emerging from total darkness with a curious expression on his face. The low light was a problem so the noise levels are high. I couldn't get the feet as they were obscured.
The rest are unoriginal I agree but I'm fairly happy with them so they're not ready for the bin just yet. They're still at least as good as the ones Colchseter Zoo are using on their postcards.
I'd clone out that twigg over the last one if I felt the shot deserved that much of my time but it isn't quite good enough.
Oh, and the tortoise is dead!! lol

I agree with Bigwill regarding the fourth - a brilliant shot!
Looks like overall you had a better day with the glass than me - it really needs overcast or a polarizer - and I think you got luck with the clouds

Yeah, most of my shots were taken late in the day and it had clouded over so I was able to retake several just before closing time.

Whilst I enjoy looking at your photograph but I seem to think I'd opt for No 4 the cat's expression is wonderful.

Well taken, and keep up good work. Well done.

Now, I will hold my hands up and say I really do hate cats but that one ABOVE the tiger shot really is a corker!
