    July, 2008 - FirstView Pictures

This thread is for posting of FirstView pictures for the 1st of July, 2008. Please read the main About FirstView post, if you have not done so already. You may post only one image here, and it must have been taken on the 1st of July, 2008. Please remember to include the basic details - time and place of shooting, and what we're looking at. If you want to put in a short paragraph explaining what's going on, or why you chose that one, or whatever, then please do, but keep it brief and relevant. Any discussion beyond that can go in the 'Comments' thread. Please do not post comments or other replies here - they will be deleted. This thread is for FirstView image posting only.

The picture thread will remain open for a few days in the first instance, so please try to get your contributions in promptly. People who are perhaps away from home, or need time for film processing, or are otherwise unable to post their images in the initial time slot should pm me - I'll re-open the thread later in the month for late additions. In all cases please remember that the forum image posting rules apply (see the 'POSTING IMAGES' sticky post, which can be found in the Appraisal Gallery).

Finally, once again I would like to draw your attention to the new FirstView Gallery site - we would like as many contributors as possible to make use of this for hosting their FirstView images in order to maintain as complete an archive as possible for the future. Of course if you prefer not to you are still welcome to contribute to the FirstView threads with images hosted elsewhere.

My FirstView photo for May was of the potatoes just starting to grow. This morning I went down the garden to dig up some of the spuds for supper.

Having just returned home from a night shift, my first view was vomit all over the bathroom door, after my good lady wife was ill during the night (she didn't notice that mess when she went back to bed!)
Didn't think you'd want to see that, so here is Shadow enjoying some sun(or more accrately the shade).

Apologies for the poopy quality, I'm restricted to a stone-age PC at the moment - one of the trilithons is loose I think!

Two Swallows Do Make a Summer

No Photoshop - honest - just a cricked neck. Location the sky over Sussex, swallows come in like a squadron of Spitfires - screaming. Don't know if it's a cloud or a vapour trail - the romantic in me hopes it's the former.

Re: July, 2008 - FirstView Pictures

I've shown my coffee break on FirstView before, so apologies for the repetition, but it is relevant. I ran out of milk yesterday evening :-( and haven't had a chance to go out for more today, and although I can stand my tea black it's really not what I'd prefer. OTOH I always have my coffee black, so I've been getting through rather more of that today than is probably good for me. :-) No sleep tonight, I guess.

    New arrival, 08:40 this morning.

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much can you take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!
