The current issue of AP (in the shops tomorrow, with you since Saturday if you subscribe) has a supplemrnt entitled The Informer, containing news from the PMA trade show held recently in Las Vegas. Included is a very interesting story on Ilford.
Ilford have decided to take their d&p service back in house in order to improve quality. Existing d&p mailers will be honoured, but there will be a backlog of work to clear.
I wasn't aware it was contracted out, but if it was that explains a lot. I've posted on these forums before about how disappointing I've found the results from Ilford, and always been answered by others saying how good their results were. So perhaps the quality issue was more a matter of consistency. The only really good set of prints I ever had back was from a roll of Delta 400 I sent them back in 1999. Some recent XP2 I sent came back particularly badly printed. All in all, I welcome this news.
