By using manual focus and apeture priority on some shots I managed to minimise the effects of wire & glass on the cages.

Those have seriously got the jaggies...way too compressed, is there anywhere you could link to so we could see the originals?

I know they're compressed - the originals are far to big to post here, and I don't have a website of my own to put them on. These are hosted on Flickr, which I don't think helps the situation! They haven't been sharpened, just the contrast adjusted so I hoped they wouldn't be too bad at this size. Here's a link to my Flickr page if that helps!

Im aware the original would be too big to post here, thats what I meant by could you post the original, or at least a larger, less compressed version as a link - eg in your flickr account. Theyre not really "visible" enough to comment on at the minute.

A lot of them are around 30-50k so you have plenty more room to "reduce" compression. Stripy things and things with lots of detail will obviously take more space than "clean" things but I reckon you could get them less jaggy than that. Are you "saving for web"?
Why do you say that? These are hosted on Flickr, which I don't think helps the situation!

PS You've got some beautiful stuff on your flickr account eg this one, so Im sure they could still go on there with less "jaggies"![]()

Wow - great shots! Love the detail.
I've got to get out more, or rather to more places, that is!
(Also, I think I misunderstood the rules about posting pics on the AP site - I thought you could only link to max 600 pixel-wide pics; I guess that's the embedded limit?)

Thanks for the compliments on the pics. The tiger in the water is my favourite - set as desktop on my PC at work. It's a great feeling being only a metre away from the cat, seperated by a sheet of glass.Hard avoiding the sticky kiddie-size fingerprints on the glass, but putting the lenshood right up against it seems to have done the trick.
