    Printer issue

    Hi

My wife has a Canon i3600 printer attached to her iMac running Snow Leopard. The printer suddenly won't print. It appears to accept the job, the paper runs through the printer and seems to be printing but then the sheet is completely blank.

My stepson had disconnected it from her iMac and used it on his windows laptop where the fault came to light. I wondered if the heads had been banged or something in when he did it but the weird thing is that if you print a test print, it works fine

I wondered if it was the software but it is the same using Textedit and Open Office.

    Can anyone help?

Sounds like a driver issue to me Willie? I'd try uninstalling it and then re-installing making sure you have the latest drivers for it from Canon's website.

Sorry Will, should have mentioned before. I thought that would be it too, so I deleted the old one and downloaded the latest version but still the same.

I'm really baffled because the test print works fine. Weird.

I don't have a Mac but if the printer does a test print (that doesn't need a driver) then the software driver is at fault...

I don't know if this link will help Clicky Have a read through.

Else I would uninstall the printer and start again

Ah. I didn't know that. Definetly seems to be a driver issue then. Will check out the link.

Apologies to Will for my ignorance

Well. Deleted driver again and no luck. I also tried the printer on my laptop with the same result

Not sure what to do next.

    Re: Printer issue

Hi Andy, I'm just plugging the printer directly into the mac though. It won't work on any of our computers; my wife's iMac, my MBP, or my stepson's windows laptop

Must be the printer. You could try Canon's email support form.

It's apples latest attempt to be more eco friendly, by saving printer ink. According to Apple it is working exactly as it was designed.

An apple spokesman said "if you want to kill the planet by over using printer ink, then get yourself a windows 8 pc!"
    Thanks

Yes except that the problem started when my stepson put it on a windows machine and persists on that machine too

Thanks Alex. The fact that the test print was fine fooled me. As you say, it must be the printer

    Re: Printer issue

I was thinking that a few years back I had the same problem. I had to change something in the printer properties on my PC by going into Control Panel and choosing Printers, then right clicking (on the printer I had installed at the time) and choosing something from the menu that made it print...

Not much help but might point you in another direction...
