Can anyone recommend basic photography tutorial websites?

    Hiya

I'm looking for some good tutorial websites. I want to teach myself the basics..has anyone else done this easily?

    Can anyone suggest any?

A few of the better sites I've found, which overall cover quite a range of topics, from the very basics to quite advanced stuff. Have a browse, but don't worry too much if you don't understand it all at once.

    Cambridge in Colour

    Ron Bigelow

    PhotoXels

Canon (but mostly applicable to all makes)

I'm mostly self taught, via the web, magazines (particularly AP! ), a few books, and a bit of help from my dad back when I was a teenager.

Putting the time in to practice & experiment was the main thing for me.

Posting some of your pictures on the Appraisal Gallery can be very helpful, as long as you're prepared for adverse criticism - most of it is at least constructive. And don't forget to ask questions here - the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked, leaving you in ignorance.

And believe me they're good- I still refer to them from time to time when I can't quite see why something went wrong

If you want further hardcopy reading don't forget your local library. It is free and usually has many books covering pros etc approach to shooting.

I have always found videos the easiest way to learn new techniques, I have spends loads of time watching different videos on youtube learning new techniques.

I have recently started making free tutorial videos. I have done some how to guides including photoshop and photography techniques and will be adding more over the next few days and weeks.

Is there any specific things you want to learn? I am planning more tutorials soon so if you let me know the topics you are interested in I can try to help you out.
