Base of waterfall - Yorkshire Dales

    Mike.
That's all very well but what does Ken Rockwell have to say on the matter?

First look I wouldn't say this composition would work but somehow it does. Not the typical waterfall shot which gives it something.
    Prefer it in mono though.

Light seems a little flat Mike, just feels like there's something missing here to give it that "zing".

On my laptop monitor the picture looks just right! I like both pictures but I favour the mono version....I must confess though I have never photographed a waterfall yet, I have been to a few but in most cases there's been little water to photograph for one reason or another......well done.

I like the colour version but I'd crop the small rocks in the foreground out they distract for me.

You still get the lead in but it is a clean lead in then so for me more inviting.

The colour and detail are great. Hence my liking of the colour version, there is nice faint blue in the spray which is lost in the B&W version. That and the rich brown in the water.

    Colour one a must.

Actually just the merest touch on levels brings it to life more.

Thank you to every one of you for your comments.
I'll 'touch' the levels as you recommend, Mike.

Personally found the colours lacking which is why I though mono would be nice.

Yes, I really meant to thank you for your conversion as it gives the image an elemental simplicity that has impact. So, if belatedly, thanks very much.

I quite like both, but would be tempted to slice a bit off the left.
Please have a look and tell me what you think....

For me I think it needs a slight crop and curves boost to bring up the midtones...
