I didn't understand any of that apart from the words 'shutter' 'flash' compur' and 'D200' - although obviously I know what an insect is.......

A lot easier to wait for the darned thing to land!

good grief! He's definitely determined!
The fact that he's also willing to share his expertise, deserves a medal. I also notice that this posting is probably pre-2009, (see comments at bottom of page) so what level of sophistication does he employ now?!!

Need a high speed trigger for that sort of stuff? Can't say I'd noticed



Hopefully get some new beastie action shots this year.....those ones are a few years old (shot on a 300D with the MP-E and twin-flash)

Find somewhere with loads of flowers on a nice day and press the shutter button with your finger as the subject comes into land. Sometimes they hover in (roughly) the same spot for a while

I was thinking of trying a similar setup my self but ran out of Meccano.
