Easiest way would be to simply extend just one leg of the tripod and strap the legs to the centre column to stop them splaying out.

I have the 055Pro and there's no way, short of removing two of the legs, to turn it into a monopod. Removing the legs would not be easy therefore I assume that Manfrotto didn't intend that to happen.

I'm sorry if my model is completely different from yours. If it is then this reply is rather pointless.

I couldn't find the model number you quoted on the Manfrotto website. The link below is for the 055c.

Deleted in 1999, it appears to show only one leg. Did this tripod require assembly when first purchased, and that is what you remember?

I would just extend one leg, or buy a monopod; some can be had for quite reasonable sums (though I appreciate that may be relative).

Good luck

I used to have that model. I'm not aware of it being able to convert to a monopod but you could remove the centre column and shorten the column.

I think the diagram shows one leg for clarity in order to illustrate the part numbers. My tripod was ready assembled straight from the box.
