The Colourful Mr Eggleston
Quote:
William Eggleston is one of the most influential and original photographers alive today.
A Mississippi aristocrat with a fondness for guns, drink and women, he dragged colour into the world of art photography. Reviled in the 1970s, he is now considered a legend whose unique visual style has influenced generations of photographers and filmmakers.
Imagine shows the normally shy and elusive Eggleston at work - taking photographs on the road, in and around his home town of Memphis.

Hello Alan, what's with all this study of tv scheduling? You should be out pounding the streets and posting shots for our enjoyment!
I still haven't wached the last lot of photo relating programmes I recorded, but I'll get this one programmed in.

Hi Barney,
I'm out every weekend in all weathers and taking more photographs than ever! I know I haven't posted much for quite a while . . . with going digital (i.e. colour) it took me a while to find my feet, at first I though it would just be the same as before only in colour, but I've found its more complicated than that as I took on board a whole new set of 'influences' . . . . these days I'm more Stephen Shore or William Eggleston as opposed to Robert Frank . . . . so that's me now into the 70's - only another 30 odd years of catching up to do
Funnily enough, it was the Lee Miller programme from the other week that impressed me the most! And David Hockney last week was quite a hoot :-)

We'd better be seeing some! If not I'll be tracking you down when I'm up in Ednburgh for the Fringe.

Thanks Alan. Will make a note of that one. I wonder if it will be more insightful than the "William Eggleston in the Real World" film on DVD.

Most enjoyable, and yes, much more enlightening than the above mentioned film. Available on iPlayer for those who missed the show. It'd be nice if the BBC stuck it out on DVD (hint, hint)
