Paul,
I found doing a narration really difficult. I started by writing the script. But when i recorded it, it was 12 mins long and the show was only 6 mins. So I had to cut a lot out. then i realised that 6 mins of photos and 6 mins of narration was too much, so I cut it down again, and again until there was only a very small bit left!
then getting rid of the hiss from my narration and blending it with the music was another challenge!
And yes, that's me talking... I thought I sounded awful, but from the feedback I have received maybe i don't sound all that bad after all!
Hi Mark
Regarding you sounding awful, I found exactly the opposite. It was quite professional IMHO and I would have actually liked a bit more.
Any comments regarding the Vista video editing facility or Pro Show Gold etc?

I'm off to Leek Show with the camera club on Saturday. Should be fun and hopefully the weather is going to be OK. Lisa.

Lisa, best of luck at the show.
Paul, for some reason I have problems with ProShow with Vista. I use PicturesToExe, much cheaper. All my slideshows can be found here.
My local camera club had a recent day out at the Folk Museum, I went for a mono approach of windows, light and shadows. Small gallery here.
A did the wedding photography (for free of course), for a member of the camera club (his daughter.) Another gallery here.
-------------------- All the best

Just downloaded trial versions of ProShow and PicturesToExe. First impressions of PicturesToExe weren't good but i did like the look and feel of ProShow which seems to run fine on my Vista machine. I even managed to make a DVD which worked I also have PS Elements 6 which has it's own slide show maker and is very similar to the ProShow but I think I may be leaning towards the latter. We'll see.
Also had a look through some more of your AV's on your site and I'm very impressed. I still think my favourite is the Norway one.

Two and a half years ago my nearest camera club was 15 miles away and I didn't fancy the travelling so I formed my own. A bit like that ad for Remington some years ago when the new owner said "I liked the razor so much that I bought the company!"
Well, I didn't buy anything but I did work hard at starting the club and now 30 months later we have 75 members and I'm embarrassed to admit that some of them travel 25 miles to get to our meetings. We have a great reputation for helping beginners by running training courses in Photoshop and Elements. We also run Portrait courses at a studio belonging to one of our members.
You learn so much by belonging to a club and the courses make learning a real doddle - so much easier than reading a book or watching a video.
We're in Norfolk UK, south of Watton just off the A1075. We're in a small village of no more than 450 population so it just goes to show what can be done. If you're nearby, pop in and see us - you'll be welcome. All the details are on our website.

Well thanks Chris on both counts - The web site is one which I have done a lot of work on - probably far too extensive as there must be at least 50 pages, probably more but it is very easy to navigate when looking at images.
I'm glad you like it.

My local club goes through phases of being overly progressive and then drifts back into being deeply mired in the mud. There's a very clear pecking order too: the committee acolytes always grab the front 2 rows with their hats and gloves, much like the Germans deploy towels at pool-sides. The hoi-poloi gets to sit in rows 3 to 5, and new members start at the back. After 8 years, including winning competitions and trophies, I never got beyond row 5. Of course, the average age is around 70, with no-one under 38.
Apart from that, they never really seem to do any photography (except copulating damselflies). They spend most of their evenings looking at other peoples' dead average photos - especially enduring talks by committee members' friends on pointless visits to the Falklands and reminiscences of life in colonial Hong Kong - complete with faded Agfachromes (autochromes would be fun!) and kitschy music, always played too loud, for too long. I think it's a form of 'Stepfordism'.
Another local club is fixated on portrait nights - like scantily clad model draped un-alluringly over a Harley-Davidson and accompanied by his ugly, be-metalled girlfriend. The next club down the road has 24 meetings per year 18 of which are competition related - the others are actually just committee meetings.
But my wider experience suggests that these are local abberations in the Midlands, not typical of the rest of the country.

My club's pretty much OK. It's got some younger folk (less than 50!) on the committe now, geeing the rest up. I sit at the back but I like it there - can nod off in peace when things sometimes get a bit boring. Lisa.
