I am interested in these 2 cameras,I am a bit of a beginner when it comes to photography,I would like some good auto features i.e the camera does the work. But also would like the chance to dabble with some of the features and maybe try and get a bit more creative. Which if any of these 2 is more suitable for a beginner and how do they match up quality wise for pictures.
Thanks

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
You are right, we do get many questions like this. The problem is that, in order to give a meaningful reply, one would need experience of both cameras. Most/many of us use SLRs and perhaps don't have the depth of knowledge of compact/bridge types.
Bear with us though I'm sure someone will be along soon who can give an informed opinion.

Well, I have the Canon A590 IS and I know about the Panasonic but haven't tried it. The Canon would be a very good camera to do a bit of learning on as it has an optical viewfinder (rare these days) and a fully automatic mode as well an manual modes including manual focus if you want to try it. It can produce pictures of astounding clarity as I found in Egypt earlier this year and at the current price of £76 (Warehouse Express) it's an absolute steal.

Thanks for the replies,I realise experience with both cameras would be needed to give a meaningful reply. But as an experienced photographer which would you pick due to features and performance form reviews?
Optical viewfinder is something to bear in mind. Thanks
