I know there is a way to recover images from a card as long as you haven't shot anything else on it. Sandisc provide a disc with their cards with recovery software on it, and a quick Google turns up quite a few hits, but I've never tried it so can't advise further, sorry!

Yes, don't write anything else to the card and you should be able to recover them ok. There are plenty of programs to do this, I use Image Rescue but I'm sure others will come up with suggestions as well.

Personally use panda recovery, a bit of freeware I found when I was trying to get back files on a usb 4gb that I'd deleted by mistake when I was clearing space for some podcasts.

Just added a couple of 1.5TB drives to my computer. Hard work due to the water cooling but the carpet has almost dried out. I now have nearly 5TB of hard disk storage - that's the trouble with high resolution dSLR and scanning 4x5s. Thank goodness drives are getting cheaper.

Hi S_Q,
As mentioned, we had a customer come in with a "dodgy" card that, when he put it in his computers card reader, would cause his computer to restart and, consequently, he wasn't able to download the images to his computer. So we were able to bring up all his pics and burn them on to a DVD which he will be able to view and, if he so decides, plop them on to his computer
If you're interested, I will find a link to the particular software and post it tomorrow (Friday June 19th).
Cheers,
Jack

That is true Jack, one of the few things that Jessops did well was have that software (or similar anyway) in store for the folks who had problems as described.
