.......just seen one in the local Cash Generator store with a Minolta 28-100 fitted.Does anyone have experience of this camera? The asking price is £14.99 but I am put off by the nature of the shop. They just buy and sell stuff with no knowledge of the product. Any info or advice welcome. Cheers Dave

The 40 is one of the last Film cameras that Minolta made, it is part of the same family as the Dynax7 that I have, so has ADI capability, however it came with probably one of the worst consumer zooms. I can remember seeing reports of how blooming awful the lens was, however, at less than £15 if you have better Minolta glass available it would be an all right wee film SLR

Thanks for the feedback Ron If it`s there tomorrow I`ll check it over and,if OK,I`ll buy it.I see it as a stepping stone to a KM/Sony digital body in the future. BTW,ADI? Help appreciated,Dave NB:Look at my profile to see how antiquated my 35mm system is!!!

ADI = Advanced Distance Information, It's Minolta's/Sony's system of communication between Camera, Lens and Flash which was built into the last series of Minolta Film Cameras prior to the 7D and 5D being introduced. If you're looking at using the lens as a starter for getting into the Sony system, IMVHO I'd pass, even on an APS-C sensor I don't think you'd be happy with the results especially on something between 10 - 15 Mega Pixels, you'd be better going straight for an Alpha and kit lens
