Well, it looks good, from what we can see anyway. But how will it perform? And how much will it cost?

Which is a big plus in my book.

Reading futher down the thread first linked to, pricing (based on exchange rates) would appear to be:

Body only c£575
Kit c£830
17mm f:2.8 c£300
14-42mm c£225

I'm not sure the market could take any higher prices than that, and certainly, evn if they matched the current exchange rate they would price me out of the market initially.

I must say though, if the leak is to be believed, I do fancy the look of the 17mm f:2.8 and the specs look to be there or thereabouts too.

This rumour may also be of interest:

On RFF a Chinese rumor site was translated by KyWong
(original thread http://www.rangefinderforum.com/foru...t=75006&page=6).

There's little disapointment for all you black metal fans - white or silver only (I hope that's not true though )

These are supposed specs:

"well the chinese rumours say it'll come in silver or white.

I'll give the translation a go...

I wonder if it will have that quite distinctive smell which I remember from the Pen EE and Pen D cameras? Probably not - I imagine that the adhesives etc. have been reformulated by now.

Blimey, I think that adding the right smell to a wishlist is going a wee bit over the top!

Ooh, that looks jolly nice, I must say. Pitty we can't see more of it. Looks like the screen might flip out as it's curved down one edge. This could be a very exciting camera and I love the teaser campaign to date. I think Oly have a feeling they're on to something rather special in the digital Pen. I hope they're right.

Anyone got any more pics?

Thanks - very interesting. Joining in the speculation, I think there could be another control wheel where the right-hand thumb would fall. There is a black something positioned in the jutting out grip on the back (see the side view).

I do not know how much they cost but FT to mFT adaptors are already available and that will give access to a 25mm immediately, obviously a smaller, dedicated version will be needed later.

Personally I am wondering about a mFT to Canon FD adaptor - I believe it already exists and it would breate new life into some old lenses that Canon itself decided to abandon.

A Bessa T style trigger winder would look good and add balance when using a longer lens. It could be connected to act as a clockwork recharger which can be used when the batteries are nearly depleted.

Nah, that's just silly, but trigger winders are .

Sign-up to be first for info [Re: Bone_Idle]

Oly UK says we are just behind the Germans in the number of people we have signed up on the MFT information site and is appealing for us to make you all aware of it. 'Don't let the square-heads beat us', I think the message is. Sign-up and they'll send you the information as soon as it is released.

Exclusive Micro Four Thirds information - Olympus counts down to the future

The wait will soon be over. After much anticipation, Olympus’ first Micro Four Thirds camera is due to hit the world stage this summer. Before long, photographers everywhere will be able to enjoy the benefits of a whole new approach to digital photography. And as a special treat, Olympus is offering registered enthusiasts all the details before anyone else.

The countdown to Olympus’ first Micro Four Thirds product is on, and excitement about its unveiling is reaching a high point. The Micro Four Thirds system was developed to maximise the performance potential of digital imaging technology. It allows users to enjoy the same high image quality as a professional photographer without the bulk and hassle of a traditional D-SLR. The result? An ultra-compact interchangeable lens type digital camera system unlike anything seen before. With those advantages, it’s no wonder the new model has already started creating such a stir. Those who want to be the first to obtain exclusive news about the new model and revolutionary Micro Four Thirds system can simply register online at: http://www.olympus-consumer.com/en/promotions/mft.popup

Why not register today to get the scoop?

I'm heading out to Germany on Monday to an Olympus Europe do and will report back as soon as I get a chance to have a look at whatever it is they are going to show us. And yes, I will be taking my Pen D with me. I've been dusting it off and running a roll through it to make sure it's in tiptop shape for the occasion.

I signed up a couple of weeks ago, but have heard nothing since. I even signed up again just to be sure. Still nothing. It's a shame. Oly's marketing department could at least have sent a confirmation email, but what a missed opportunity to tease those who have shown an interest.

Damien, I hope you're being parachuted in to Germany! Remember, your country is depending on you! Given the launch date is Monday, and release won't be immedidiate, when would you expect to able to review the camera?
