I am an amateur photographer and love taking portraits, landscapes, weddings, indoor events, wildlife and sports. I am considering an equipment upgrade but due to limited dollars I can only afford one. I like to receive some advice on which of the 3 upgrade options (below) will give me the most mileage.
Current gear Bodies: 1DMkIII, 5D Lenses: 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 24-105 f/4L IS, 17-40 f/4L
Upgrade options (reasons) 1) 5DMkII (superior to my 5D); or 2) 16-35 f/2.8L II (brighter than my 17-40); or 3) 24-70 f/2.8L (brighter than my 24-105)
Thank you

Why do you want to upgrade? What's wrong with your current set up? It's all very good kit, better than many professionals' kit

I'd ditch the 24-105/4 for the 24-70/2.8 but only because it suits what I shoot...but then when it came down to it I went for a 50mm f/1.4 because it suited what I wanted to do even better than a slow, heavy zoom.
How about adding to the kit rather go for what could be an insignificant upgrade for the sake of some spare cash?
Fast 50mm, macro lens, fisheye, tilt and shift, 300mm f/4, 400mm f/5.6.....???

Apparently, some people say the 24-105mm lens is better suited to the 5D MkII than the 24-70mm one. I'm happy with mine. Images are very good and all in focus ... so far. Many people say that the better ISO on the 5D MkII outweighs the F4 disadvantage.

I have the 24-105 and the 24-70 and must admit I havent used the 24-70 for over 6 months as from F4 upwards there is hardly any noticable difference between the 2 and the weight difference is quite a bit and the 2 or 3 stops extra the is gives is quite useful. If you really need 2.8 then its a no brainer but it also seems a bit unbalanced on a 5D and bloody heavy on a 1D/1ds,
