I thought I would just pop in and say Hi. I've just signed up for the DDP course and I'm starting to plan module 1. I've already found answers to some of my initial questions in other posts, and that has been really helpful. One question I have that may not have been addressed is for those of you who are already through module 1, did you go out and take shots specifically for the module, or did you use existing shots. I have a few existing photos that suit the designated subjects, and probably expose my limitations (the reason I'm taking the course!). I'll be grateful for any advice.
John.

Firstly welcome John.
I've yet to get my results from module 1 back, what I did was set myself a deadline in my case the end of the Easter holidays and take new shots where I can - out of my 10 shots submitted 3 where from existing "stock".
Will keep you posted when I get my first set of results back and if this was seen as a negative approach.
I set a timeline in order to keep me on track, given that I'd like to complete the course in just under a year.

Hi John I used all new images for module 1 but that was just my choice. If you have images that fit the bill there is nothing to stop you using them. Do not worry about exposing your limitations - we all have them and we are learning as we go. I chose subjects for module 1 that I had not tried before because I like a challenge. Try something different - experiment - enjoy the challenge. Most importantly enjoy your photography

My experience is that it takes at least 5 weeks to get feedback from a module so if you wait to get back feedback for each of the ten modules before starting the next module you have nearly a year's waiting time so a year seems very optimistic. You need not to be in a hurry - which is probably a good thing! Cheers Jeff

Perhaps with the new admin things are improving Jeff - I've had the first module back in under 3 weeks and the tutor's comments I feel will help keep me on track

John - Having just got module 1 back I do not appear to have incurred any penalty for using a couple of images that I had prior to starting the course - however in some ways I wish I had only submitted new material forcing me to up my game.
However all of the feedback was useful in moving forward.

I submited module 3 on 31 March and still waiting. I have not chased it up with anyone because having paid £299 I don't think I should have to faff about trying to get some action for each module. Anyhow, I hope your experience becomes normal! Cheers

Still waiting for the module submitted on 31 March. Am now wondering about asking for my money back next week at the 2 month mark. Even if I don't do that I shall, once again, have to chase up a module which will make me even more fed up with the poor service.

Aha Got email to say my module has got lost in the post. Have to print some items again - if I can remember how I printed them first time round - and resubmit the images and words done on disk. Going away this weekend so will get the job done by next weekend then submit again. Cheers Jeff PS Anyone else had their module lost in the post? Still waiting for the module submitted on 31 March. Received the following mail re lost module submission. Will redo and take it from there. Cheers Jeff
"Dear Jeff
Apologies for the extremely long wait regards your module three. Your module was sent out to your tutor on 7th April and despite lots of communication with your tutor it has come to light that she never received a special delivery package which was delivered to her on 8th April, which contained your work and several others. The special delivery package was signed for but after enquiries it looks as though the signature was not actually Pamela's so a whole new investigation has been launched. This expalains why your work is delayed as it was never received by your tutor.
I apologise profusley for this and regret it was not highlighted much earlier. Would you therefore accept my sincerest apologies and would be most grateful if you could submit your work again and I will get this fast-tracked and marked as soon as possible, whilst we continue to investigate where this pack sits.
Regards"

DDP module 1. I used photos I had taken before starting the course. I asked first if it was OK and felt the "yes" I got in reply was ambiguous - a bit grudging. My interpretation was based on the "finding out about you" phrase and although some of the pictures I used weren't technically (or compositionally) perfect they summed up where my skill levels and subject interests were at the time. I wasn't marked down for using them.
